Had to charge the rig by plugging it into the car...and got to meet the camp host ( lives in a BIG rig...the entire season) and learned about how a generater is actually a better idea, especially with a 75 watt solar panel on the roof ( " your battery will always be charged even when you store it 6 months...). I didn't tell him that I don't want to invest in one. I was eyeing the outhouse (...by any other name...) for reasons... known only to others who RV.
Left for our hike up to Maroon Bells...blessed by yet another excruciatingly beautiful day. Busy trail with old people, young people, little people and a few healthy dogs...we did not have the ONLY poodle ( Bo Peep, if you please) on the mountain and she is a tough 5 pounds of black fur...Tom bonded with her and caried her across river crossings. The trail may not gain incredible elevation, but is is amazingly rocky! It goes from some...to many...to ridiculous. Glad to have a walking stick. Crescent lake, at the foot of the Bells was lovely and well worth the walk. We enjoyed our lunch in the shade of the Aspens and hobbled down...the dog knew to look for shade at every opportunity. And we were treated to the most magnificent array of wildflowers I have seen in many years.
We had dinner responsibility tonight and now I know that mushrooms stuffed with Brie...delicious tho they may be...don't do well on the grill. Chicken shish ke bob turned out to Be a bit sketchy also...the southwestern salad was a hit and the walk in the National Park at dusk was lovely
